Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius

Jan. 14, Mercury (the planet of the mind, the intellect, communication and travel) turns retrograde at 6:41 a.m. EST. This lasts until Feb. 3, beginning in the sign of Aquarius (the visionary, the humanitarian, the importance of personal freedom) and ending in the sign of hard-working, responsible, efficient Capricorn. And with our Gemini Moon square to Neptune (the planet of inspiration and faith) and opposition to Mars (the fiery planet of energy, drive and action) later in the day, it can be challenging to remain objective.

Mercury Retrograde is when the planet Mercury slows down, and appears to stop and move backward. It's an optical illusion, since the planet is always moving forward. Usually it happens 3 times a year and lasts about 3 weeks. This year it will happen 4 times. Mercury Retrograde is usually a time when we go inward, a time to re-evaluate things in our life. Perfect timing with the upcoming Full Moon in Cancer on Jan. 17!

Mercury rules many things...communications, technology, conversations, schedules, planes, trains, automobiles, computers, television, newspapers, writing, small motor skills... When Mercury goes retrograde, we tend to experience challenges in these areas, making us feel frustrated or confused...flights or other travel arrangements may be delayed; changes in our best-laid plans; mail gets held up; we may have car trouble or computer glitches; miscommunications...that's all part of Mercury retrograde.

As annoying and frustrating as all these things can be, especially during the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, Mercury Retrograde offers us wisdom and blessings, inviting us to slow down; pause; breathe; take extra care with our communications, taking the time to think things through and to choose our words carefully. Do we really need to fight that battle now? How important is it? Re-read e-mails, letters, contracts before signing anything or sending it out or replying to messages that we have received.

It's not a time to begin new ventures. It's generally not a good time to sign contracts or to make final or permanent decisions. If we need to, it would be wise to have a second person to help us read and re-read the fine print. This is a great time for research and exploration in preparation for major decisions to be implemented later in February.

When our plans do not go according to plan and we're feeling frustrated or angry, how will we choose to respond? Mercury Retrograde invites us to stop, breathe, count to 10 if necessary, repeat again if necessary, and respond with compassion, understanding and love. What appears to be an obstacle can indeed become a stepping stone.

It's amazing how when the unexpected steps in to change our plans, we are often led in a direction that is much better than we could ever have imagined. Some call that Divine appropriate timing. I call them "God moments". We are always Divinely protected and Divinely directed. We just need to be open to receive. Mercury Retrograde invites us to do just that...one day at a time.

Mercury Retrograde can help us to go back to face a lesson, a truth that we may have missed, that we needed to learn, that we are now ready to see, to accept, and to heal.

Essential meanings: Timelessness; Divine timing; immeasurable time.

The Oracle's message: When humans created time, everything changed and contracted. People have come to look at life in a linear way, imagining that the past is behind them and the future ahead of them. But what if that isn't true at all? What if everything - creativity, beauty, chaos, and order - were happening now, in a glorious timelessness? You have all the time in the world to co-create the life you desire, so release your agenda. Let go of your need to shape each moment to your expectations, knowing that what is yours will never be withheld from you. Relationship message: Love, the fulfillment of desire, and even the body's reproductive cycles have their own timetable. Some things are preordained and cannot be coerced. Everything has its season, its Divine and appropriate timing, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Remember that you always have enough time for love - to find it, to nurture it, to give and receive it. Its clock is eternal and ticks according to the beating of your heart, in perfect rhythm. Isn't that wonderful to know? Love is always right on time.

Prosperity message: Your prosperity is co-created by your endeavors as they occur in human-made time and the eternal efforts of your most important manifestation partner - Spirit - in a Divine, measureless time. So keep doing what you're doing. Stay positive and make a commitment to remain in high-vibration thoughts and feelings.
