Mercury Turns Retrograde in Libra

On September 27 at 1:10 a.m. EDT, Mercury turns retrograde in Libra and will be here until October 18.

Mercury is the Planet of the Mind...the way we think and reason, question and analyze. It's about communication - learning, teaching, recording, clarifying; it's about roads, travel, mail, e-mail, computers, internet. It's about transaction - negotiating and bartering. It's also about humour. It likes to trick and play jokes. Mercury Retrogrades prove that. It also likes to tease, to con. With Mercury Retrograde, we may experience technology glitches, disruptions with travel plans or misunderstandings with miscommunications. Be sure to double check messages before sending them and back up the work that we do. Mercury Retrograde is a time to review, re-set, revise, re-think, reflect, re-do... It's not advised to enter into something completely new at this time. However, if we do move ahead with something big, it's wise to check and re-check contracts before signing them, or even better, have someone else review them for us before signing.

Libra is all about partnerships and all that entails...compromising, balancing, negotiating, cooperating. The challenge is to work with, to create interdependence. It's important that we take the time to talk things out, to listen to each other, to speak from our heart, to create an outcome that is satisfying and mutually beneficial for both people. It's important that we express our needs and ask for help to get those needs met.

We may need to be more aware of where and how we tend to blame others for our difficulties or of our need to step up and take responsibility for ourselves and the choices that we have made. It's time to face ourselves and others directly, using the power of Libra to do it with compassion, courage, strength and peace.

Instead of fighting, arguing, trying to make things or people change into the way that we believe that they should be, try to relax; breathe; take a step back and observe. What is our Higher Power trying to teach us? Let's ask ourselves, "What is the gift of this moment, this experience? What lesson do I need to learn or remember?" Perhaps it's a lesson for me to slow down and take better care of myself. Perhaps it's a lesson that I need to stay in the present moment and rediscover the beauty of the present. Perhaps there's someone who needs my immediate focus, care, attention, love. Whatever the lesson may be, let's pray "Thy will be done, not mine," and ask, "How may I be of service?"

With Mercury Retrograde in Libra, it's a time to take a look at who we are choosing to be in relationship and why. Who do we want by our side and what kind of friend or partner do we want to be?

The Frog says that it's time to clean house and get rid of the clutter in your environment, your head, and your heart. Move out any objects, thoughts, or relationships that hold you back. It's time to get rid of anything that clutters your life or your space with unwanted burdensome energy, or anything that weighs heavily on your heart.

Look around you and take stock of what surrounds you. Does what you see hold positive and supportive energy? If not, it's time to throw it away and release it so that it, in turn, will release you from its influence. When the Frog appears, it's always spring and time for cleaning your house so you can allow new and fresh energy to enter your world.

The Frog says, "It's time to release all things no longer appropriate to bring on your journey. Then you can hop to the next lily pad, light and free."

Such a perfect card for this time! It's definitely a time for cleaning house and releasing emotional baggage. Mercury Retrograde invites us to go inward, reflect carefully, and consciously choose the path we wish to take. Remember, we do not do this alone. With Spirit as our guide, all things are possible and the possibilities and blessings are endless. May we use our words, our thoughts and ideas for the highest good of all, to nurture, to empower, to bless, ourselves and others!
